Finding the Appropriate Season's Greeting

The holidays roll around and each year and it feels like it's tougher to find an unoffensive, all-encompassing season's greeting. I think I've done pretty good, though.

Ready? Here it is.....

But seriously, to all my readers, both those who participate, and those who just read along, wishing you a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays....whichever applies. Believe it, or not, I still celebrate Christmas as a cultural holiday, so I'm not one of those atheists who gets offended should someone say, "Merry Christmas!", and to be honest, I've never encountered another atheist who does. 'Funny, that

I personally, have always used the now "politically" correct/incorrect - "Happy Holidays, whether people like it or not simply because there are a handful of holidays all crammed into a few week span that it is just too much of a hassle to rattle them all off - Happy Holidays is a catchall - no more, no less - it simply means, whatever holiday(s) you hold most dear and celebrate - I wish you happiness ... if they don't like it, they can simply go fuck themselves :P

Exactly. IOW, "Happy Holidays" and "Merry Christmas" are not mutually exclusive. I mean, the "s" on "Holidays" is a pretty big clue.

"I wish you happiness ... if they don't like it, they can simply go fuck themselves"

I'm still just in the eye-roll stage, most likey because I've not met anyone in real life who's offended by "Happy Holidays".

I would concur - at least they don't openly show it ... but a quicke and forceful response of "Merry Christmas" can be very telling ... but alas, that isn't my battle, nor my concern ... I let them duke it out within their headspace while I merrily roll along feigning obliviousness to their inner conflict and urge to spew it out their piehole ... they never do :P

Happy Holidays to you and your sir :)

Edit/amendment to add to the above statement/comment:

... I merrily roll along feigning obliviousness to their inner conflict and urge to spew it out their piehole ... they never do ... meanwhile I walk away with a smirk knowing my simply greeting has caused them enough consternation to ruin another holiday season for them

I've never encountered an atheist that gets offended by Merry Christmas either. I think the Christians made that up :). Once I saw a store clerk say Happy Holidays to a customer and the customer stood up tall and said, "That's Merry Christmas,' and then stomped off...That was kind of offensive lol!

Yeah, I suppose that that, and an accompanying scowl, would be a pretty big clue that someone took offense.

"Happy Holidays to you and your sir :)"

Thx. Ditto!

Oh, brother. I've never encountered that type of situation, but I see the sorts of memes in my FB news feed posted by people who might do such a thing(or worse) in real life.
